2023: ‘Laughable’ – Secondus Reacts To Allegation Of Working Against Southern Presidential Candidate For PDP

The suspended National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus has denied the allegation of working against the emergence of a southerner as the presidential candidate of the party in 2023.

According to Secondus in a statement from his media office, those who laid the accusation against him displayed ignorance as no single person can decide the zone which will produce the PDP candidate for 2023.

He also denied the allegation that he has not paid his dues as a party member, adding that those behind the reports are desperate politicians seeking relevance.

Naija News recalls the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Desmond Akawor claimed that one of the sins of the embattled National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus was that he rejected the decision of Southern governors that the next President of Nigeria should come from the South.

This comes after the suspension of Secondus from the PDP as announced on Wednesday by the Ward Chairman of the Party, George Christopher, during the extraordinary meeting at the party’s Secretariat at Ikuru town, Andoni.

Christopher stated that eleven out of the 17 executive members endorsed Secondus suspension from the party.

But reacting to the allegation of working against the emergence of a southern candidate, Secondus in a statement on Friday through his media aide Ike Abonyi said the allegation was both ignorant and laughable.

He added that it could have been ignored altogether but for the sake of innocent members of the public that needed to be well educated, the record has to be set straight.

“The media office of Prince Uche Secondus will continue to respond to even laughable talks because of the danger of allowing disinformation to enter public space unchallenged.

“One of such false information being dished out is the allegation from the Rivers State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ambassador Desmond Akawor that Prince Secondus is working against Southern interest and that he has not paid his dues to the party.”

“We understand the frustration the anti- Secondus crusaders who have become evidence ‘shopaholics’ are facing in their desperation to find points with which to use to achieve their ignoble goals.”

“The media office sees their effort as a case of bad marketer selling a product, who puts in several efforts to convince buyers to no avail.”

“Our response is that there is no truth in all the allegations and Southern interest will be grossly endangered if it’s the likes of Ambassador Akawor and his clique that are pushing it,” the statement reads.
