English Premier League club, Arsenal has completed the signing of Japan professional footballer, Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna.

Naija News reports that Takehiro completed his medical on Tuesday, August 31.

The North London club splashed £19.8m to land the 22-year-old at Emirate Stadium.

Speaking to Arsenal journalists, technical director Edu said: “We’re delighted to have signed Takehiro. We’ve been watching him for a while now and we’re pleased that we have reached an agreement with Bologna. He is an important addition to our squad.”

Arsenal coach, Mikel Arteta, while commenting on the defender’s signing said: “Takehiro is a strong defender with good experience in Serie A and at international level. He’s a versatile defender with great defensive qualities, high technical ability and composure on the ball.

“He will be an important member of our squad. We look forward to Takehiro joining up with us when he returns from international duty.”

Moments after his signing, the Japanese footballer in a video sighted on the club’s media page, assured Arsenal fans of his determination to contribute his quota to the club.

He said: “Hi, Arsenal supporters! I’m so happy to be part of the team,’ Tomiyasu said in a short video posted on Arsenal’s social media pages.

‘I promise you that I will give everything to contribute for the team.

‘I’m looking forward to seeing you in the stadium.’

Naija News understands that Takehiro will wear the number 18 shirt at Arsenal.

Meanwhile, after several attempts to sign French professional footballer, Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) this summer failed, Real Madrid will receive the forward for free next summer.

Naija News reports that Madrid had repeatedly made offers to PSG but was turned down by the Ligue 1 club. The 22-year-old player has just a year left on his contract with PSG.
