Atiku Bagudu Makes Fresh Appointments On Handover Day

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has reacted to the impeachment of the Speaker of Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Abdulmumini Kamba and his Deputy, Hon. Mohammed Aliero.

Recall that the assembly had on August 24 impeached the Speaker and his deputy during a closed-door plenary session by 20 out of the 24 members of the assembly.

The assembly immediately swore in Hon. Muhammad Lolo as the new speaker, while Mohammaed Usman Zuru was elected as the new deputy speaker.

Reacting to the incident, governor Bagudu commended the assembly for carrying out the change in its leadership without bloodshed.

The governor added that change in leadership is a normal democratic process, adding that the assembly exercised their constitutional right of choice of their own leaders.

Bagudu stated these on Monday when he received the new leaders of the State Assembly led by the new Speaker in his residence at the government house in Birnin-Kebbi.

The governor said, “I really appreciate that this is part of our democratic principle where the majority of the members of the State House of Assembly exercised their constitutional right of choice of their own leaders.

“We wish the new leaders more purposeful unity so that together we serve the people of Kebbi State.

“We appreciate the services rendered by the former Speaker and his Deputy for what they have done for the state. I am hereby pledging that we will continue to work together to better the lives of the people of the state.”

Reacting, the new Speaker, Hon. Lolo assured the governor and the people of the state that the new leadership of the house would bring even development to the state.

He assured that all requests from the executive arm on policies and programmes designed to improve the wellbeing of the people of the state would receive prompt approval from members of the house.
