Court Acquits Ex-minister Turaki Of Money Laundering Charges

A former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki has rubbished reports that he has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Kebbi-born politician while denying such reports said those behind the initial rumours are simply been mischievous.

Turaki who submitted that he has no plans to dump the PDP now or any time in the future, noted that he is working with other party leaders to reposition the party ahead of the 2023 general elections in the country.

He promised that he remains committed to the ideals of PDP.

Taking to his Twitter account on Friday to deny the rumours, the former Minister wrote: “My attention has been drawn to a malicious and mischievous rumour going round that I have left my Party, the PDP.”

“It’s unfortunate that when am busy with other leaders in our party strengthening our unity and properly positioning it for the greater challenges ahead, some people are busy spreading mischievous story about my leaving PDP.”

“I have not left PDP. I have no plan of leaving my party now or any other time please.”

“I am a Member of PDP BOT, Chairman of PDP Former Ministers Forum as well as Chairman of the PDP North West Zone Elders Council. So for me, these traducers should know that the marriage between me and PDP is one made in heaven.”

“I was at the PDP BOT meeting yesterday, Thursday 26th August 2021. I attended the National Caucus meeting today , Friday, 27th August, 2021, and by the special grace of God, I will be at the NEC Meeting tomorrow , Saturday, 28th August, 2021.”

“I have no contemplation whatsoever to that effect.”

Meanwhile, the embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, has been restrained by a Cross River High Court from resuming his office.

Naija News reports that Secondus was barred from presiding over any meeting of the party by Justice Edem Kooffreh, on Friday.

While ruling on a motion ex parte marked HC/240/2021, Justice Kooffreh granted an interim order barring Secondus from resuming office as the PDP national chairman until the motion is heard.
