The presidency has stated that the shoot-on-sight order issued by President Muhammadu Buhari was not meant for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Buhari’s Media Assistant, Garba Shehu, stated this while speaking on BBC Pidgin on Saturday, Naija News reports.

The presidential spokesperson was responding to why the Buhari’s administration has failed to outlaw bandits just like IPOB.

Shehu stated that the administration of President Buhari only proscribed the Nnamdi Kanu-led group.

According to him, the federal government has treated bandit terrorists worse than the pro-Biafra group.

He claimed that the president shoot-on-sight order was meant for AK-47 wielding bandits terrorists.

He stressed that the military is attacking bandit terrorists from the air and land.

Garba Shehu stated that: “What the Buhari administration has done to the arms-wielding bandits is worse than being declared as terrorists. There is a subsisting order by the President that any arms-wielding, AK-47 bandits should be shot on sight.

“Yes, IPOB has been proscribed by law of the land; there is no shoot-on-sight order.

“The Nigerian Air Force is busy bombing locations; the military is there on the ground, exchanging fire for fire, taking them out in hundreds, that is certainly not treating bandits lightly.”
