TechCabal To Host ‘Future Of Commerce’ Conference

TechCabal, a pan-African publication on innovation and technology, is set to hold the first commerce conversation event in Africa.

Naija News reports that the event, tagged “The Future of Commerce”, will hold virtually and on-site on September 24th 2021, and will feature insightful speakers.

Some of the speakers expected at the event are the Chairwoman, Jumia Nigeria and Group Chief Sustainability Officer, Juliet Anammah, CEO, Paxful, Ray Youssef, General Manager (Sub-Saharan Africa), Uber Eats, Nakampe Molewa.

Other speakers expected at the event include Senior Director, (Solutions Management), Visa, Nkebet Mesele, Founder and CEO, Paga, Tayo Oviosu, and many others.

Speaking about the event, Head of TechCabal Insights, Olanrewaju Odunowo, said the conference is going to be the biggest conversation on commerce this year in Africa and across the globe.

He said that the conference will be an avenue where investors can find the most innovative companies looking to scale their business across Africa, through a pitch competition.

Odunowo stated that those expected at the event include startups, investors, banks, telecoms companies, policymakers, small businesses, tech enthusiasts, and everyday consumers.

He disclosed that attendees will learn the shifts in the industry and buying behaviour, and how they can better prepare to take advantage of the rising tide whether as organizations or individuals.

According to Odunowo, attendees will also be able to network with key stakeholders at the conference, adding that the networking will lead to partnerships, mergers and other cross-continent collaborations.

He added that speakers will discuss how global events like the COVID-19 pandemic have shaped consumer behaviour, and how businesses can apply their models to these changes.

He said: “The COVID-19 pandemic changed the face of commerce. Not only did businesses have to adjust their processes and systems, but consumers also changed their shopping habits as well. More than 84% of consumers have shopped online since the pandemic. We saw businesses introduce things like contactless payments and curbside deliveries.

“Although the worst of the pandemic is over – thankfully there are now vaccines – the question for most businesses is what next? What will the next few years look like for commerce? Will the trends we’re seeing remain the same? Will there be any significant changes? There are talks of new variants etc; how should businesses prepare? These are the questions we plan to answer at the conference.
