The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Lucky Irabor has condemned the attack by gunmen on the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna, liking the incident to armed robbery in someone’s residence.

Naija News had reported that the attack, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, resulted in the deaths of two officers and the kidnap of another.

Addressing the incident while speaking with newsmen in Yola, the Adamawa capital, Irabor expressed concern over attacks by bandits, but assured that security agencies are on top of the situation.

The incident in Kaduna has been undertaken by bandits, but it’s more of an armed robber coming to your house. The infiltration didn’t come by virtue of the normal banditry action. But these are things we’re already looking at, and in due course, you’ll get the details.

“Suffice to say, any form of insecurity is a cause of worry for anyone. That’s why for us, we’re more determined that this madness must be brought to an end very swiftly,” he said.

The Defence Headquarters had while narrating how the attack happened and what the military is doing about it, said, The gallant troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), in joint operations are in hot pursuit of armed bandits that attacked the officers’ quarters of the prestigious Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), in Kaduna early hours of 24 August 2021.

“The bandits who sneaked in after breaching the perimeter fence went straight to the officer’s living quarters and started shooting sporadically.

“Unfortunately, two brave and gallant officers paid the supreme price while 1 other officer was abducted by the bandits during the process.

“All efforts have been intensified by troops who are currently combing the entire locations in search and rescue mission for the adducted officers.

“The Commandant NDA, as well as the HQ 1Div with the support of NAF, are presently in a coordinated joint operation to search and rescue the abducted officer and arrest the perpetrators,” the Director Defence Information, Benjamin Sawyer said in a statement.
