Former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has declared his intention to contest for the position of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Chairman.

Naija News reports that he declared his intention while speaking on a radio current affairs programme in Osogbo to mark the 30th anniversary of creation of Osun State on Wednesday.

The former governor however stated that his ambition is based on two conditions.

Oyinlola stated that he would contest the PDP chairmanship only if the position is zoned to the South West and in his ability to muster the stakeholders of the party.

Oyinlola revealed that he is more prepared to serve in the office of PDP National Chairman because he has garnered a decade of cumulative experience in governance both as military administrator of Lagos State and third civilian governor of Osun State.

Speaking, the former governor slammed those using his defection to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2014 to blackmail him.

He however disclosed that he left the PDP because the party drove him away by engineering his removal.

Oyinlola stated that he is capable of taking over the leadership of the PDP because his records stood him out.

According to him, he had governed two states in Nigeria without being found wanting.
