The Coordinator, National Coalition of Ride Sharing Partners, Damola Adeniran, has said four members of the group have been killed and several cars snatched during riding activities within the Federal Capital Territory, in the past two months.

Adeniran said this in an interview with journalists during the group’s protest rally at the Tennis Court, Jabi Park, in the nation’s capital.

He said the victims lost their lives in encounters with passengers including armed robbers.

Naija News reports that the e-hailing drivers in Abuja, about 120 of them, turned off their apps and parked their cars at the rally ground to draw attention to their plight.

Within two months, we have lost four of our members and over 10 drivers since the beginning of the year. A lot of our members have been injured and cars have been snatched.

“We want riders to be profiled. The system in place allows criminals to get away with their crime. We need this to curb the incessant attack on drivers in Abuja and it is on the rise because they can easily get away with it.

“We want the service providers to change this practice. We will continue to take to the street if they insist that they won’t change this policy. If they still insist, they will meet us in court. We don’t know who the next victim will be,” Adeniran stated.
