Following the Emir of Muri’s quit notice to foreign herdsmen perpetrating kidnappings and other criminal activities in his emirate, the leadership of Miyyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has handed over 11 suspected kidnappers and gun runners to the police.

The suspects were handed over to Taraba police commissioner, Mr Abimbola Sokoya, at Maraban Kunini, on Sunday.

They were presented during the formal inauguration of a 16-man committee set up to tackle criminal activities, especially kidnapping.

The MACBAN Chairman in the state, Sahabi Tukur, said this was done in response to a pledge made before the Emir of Muri, Alhaji Abbas Tafida, and the state Commissioner of police that they will expose criminal elements among them.

Naija News recalls that the Emir had while handing the ultimatum, said, “So I have given you (Bororo) 30 days to leave my emirate. If we see any one of you after the expiration of my ultimatum, we will kill him. I am calling on my subjects to know that and be ready to fight or else I will draw the line.

“We kill him without asking him what he came to do or ask his name or where he comes from. If we are going to be all killed let it be. If we will all die, let it be. We will not allow bastards come and be kidnapping our wives; take them to the forest and rape them or commit adultery with them.”

In the main, Tukur said the committee members drawn from all the Fulani clans in the state would work along with police and other security agents in all the 16 local government areas of the state to fish out kidnappers and other criminals.

The police commissioner commended the Fulani for their resolve to address kidnapping and other crimes being perpetrated by bad eggs among them.

He also called for a collaborative effort between Adamawa, Benue and Taraba states in tackling kidnapping and other criminals activities.

He assured the Fulani of his command’s support in their efforts to weed out criminal elements among them.

Meanwhile, six repentant kidnappers have sworn with the Holy Qur’an that they will no longer engage in kidnapping, cattle rustling or any other form of criminality.
