2023 Presidency: Nigeria May Be In Trouble Except… – Njoku

A former governorship aspirant in Imo State, Iroegbu Njoku has submitted that Nigerians need to elect a president that understands human capital development in 2023.

According to him, this is the only way to save the country from the many challenges currently facing it and its people.

The politician noted that insecurity and poverty are major issues the population is battling with already and if the citizens fail to elect a president capable of leading them out of the challenges, it will spell serious danger for the nation.

Njoku made the submission while speaking on the qualities the leader who will take over from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023 must possess and the need for Nigerians to elect the right leader.

According to him, the “Electorate should begin now to assess all the people aspiring for the 2023 presidency to ascertain any of them endowed with human capital development prowess such a person should take over the leadership of the nation so that poverty, insecurity amongst other vices beleaguering the nation Nigeria, would become a thing of the past.

“Many Nigerians today are lavishing in the high level of poverty. This level of poverty has contributed heavily to the growing level of insecurity in their lives and property across the country.

“The future of the country’s citizens is in danger if a person without the human capital development knows how is elected as the next president of the nation. Hence, it is fair to say that our country is in a fragile state considering the level of insecurity and poverty coupled with low productivity and high population growth. I would like to conclude by saying that it will be catastrophic to elect a leader who would ignore the growing need for human capital investment across the country.”

“No great nation achieves economic development without first improving its capacity to become more productive and profitable. Productivity is dependent not only on physical infrastructure and economic policies but on the capability and culture of the people to constructively use these vectors to increase and sustain high productivity and profitability,” Njoku said.

Meanwhile, former militant leader, Asari Dokubo has supported former military president, Ibrahim Babangida on the age bracket of Nigeria’s next president.

In a recent interview, Babangida said he already had in mind the ideal next president of Nigeria and that the candidate is in his 60s.

The former military dictator said the idea of a good Nigerian leader is someone who has a friend everywhere, must also be well-versed in economics, and be a good politician able to talk to Nigerians.

Reacting to the statement, Dokubo appreciated the former Nigerian leader for admitting that the older generation has failed the country and it is time for the younger generation to step forward and take power.
