JNI Condemns Killing Of 22 Travelers In Jos, Demands Govt Action

The Jama’atu Nasril Islam, JNI, on Sunday, condemned the killing of 22 travelers in Jos who were heading to Ikare, Ondo from Bauchi.

It warned that if government continues to treat security matters with levity, anarchy will take the nation by storm

The leadership of JNI led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, in a statement, described the killing of the 22 travelers as the height of bestiality and barbarism.

The statement, which was signed by the Secretary-General, Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, called on the Federal and Plateau state governments to ensure the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators of the murder in cold blood.

The statement partly read, “We are calling on the Federal and Plateau state governments to as a matter of urgency ensure the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators of this heinous act.

“This tragedy cannot be swept under carpet; we have a firm conviction that this unwarranted attack on these helpless Muslims was a well thought-out pogrom.

“It is also rather unfortunate that men in position of authority will call this brutal act as a mistaken identity, does this rather suggest the affirmation of ethnic or religious profiling which is seen as a norm? No life, we repeat no life is worth taken save as stipulated.

“By and large, the JNI is calling on the government to as a matter of reconciliation identify the culprits and bring them to justice.”
