Governors, Clerics, Boss Mustapha, Others Jet To Rome To Pray For Nigeria

The Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission, NCPC, has urged Christians to put ethnic and religious bias aside and pray for the unity and progress of the country.

The call was made in a message to Nigerian pilgrims in Jordan by the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Reverend Yakubu Pam, on Saturday.

The Executive Secretary, who acknowledged that Nigeria was battling multiple socioeconomic and security challenges, stressed that praying for leaders at both the federal and state levels in spite of their failures would bring about lasting solutions.

He, therefore, urged Nigerians to remember that the challenges facing the country were not about religion or ethnicity but about the plight of the ordinary people.

He said, “Pilgrimage is a sacred period for prayers and devotion. It is in the light of the holiness of the Holy pilgrimage that we should not hesitate in offering prayers for guidance for our leaders.

“We, as patriotic citizens and Christians from Nigeria, should specifically offer prayers for workable solutions to the socioeconomic and security challenges confronting the nation.

“Surely, this is one sacred period where prayers of the righteous are promptly accepted and granted.

“We have to reflect on our past mistakes and sins and seek for forgiveness for us to become righteous. This is the only way we can be able to intercede on behalf of the leaders through prayers, to solve our challenges.”

He also urged the pilgrims to imbibe exemplary leadership style of Jesus Christ as epitomised in humility, honesty and integrity.
