Former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ondo governorship election, Eyitayo Jegede, says the party has a brighter future in the state.

Speaking at the inauguration of a support group in the PDP in Akure, on Tuesday evening, the governor noted that the party will continue be get bigger in the state.

Jegede appreciated the group for coming together to work for the progress of the party, promising to support the group.

He, however,  asked the group to go back to their respective local governments to work harder to ensure that the party succeed in its future elections.

Jegede added that has declared that the last Supreme Court judgement, which upheld the re-election of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu would not end the party in the state.

The PDP stalwart said rather than the party being depressed as a result of that development, the judgement would spur it to work harder for the future elections.

He said, “After the Supreme Court judgement, some said it is over for us in the PDP but that is a lie, we didn’t allow that judgement to depress us we are waxing stronger.”

“We still have a lot of work to do, we still have Senatorial election, House of Representatives election, House of Assembly election ahead of us in 2023. That is why we must be focused as work harder for this election. Opomulero Group is the number one PDP support group. This is not for Jegede alone, it is for all of us and together we shall succeed.”

In his remarks, the Director-General of the group, Olasupo Olakunori, said the group was ready to work and ensure that the PDP take back the South-West in future elections.
