NCDC Confirms 610 Fresh COVID-19 Cases In Nigeria

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday, reported 610 new COVID-19 infections in Nigeria.

According to the breakdown of figures bt the NCDC, Lagos recorded the highest number of new cases followed by Rivers State.

With the latest update, Nigeria now has 179,118 confirmed cases out of which 166,131 have been treated and discharged while 2,194 deaths have been recorded.

Tuesday’s report includes two states with zero cases reported: Kaduna and Sokoto.

Meanwhile, the Muhammadu Buhari-led government has concluded plans to get 176,000 doses of the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccines.

Naija News reports that the vaccine against COVID-19 is set to arrive on Wednesday (today).

This was made known to newsmen on Tuesday by the Executive Director, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Faisal Shuaib.

According to Shuaib, the J&J vaccine is safe and efficient against the coronavirus disease, including the deadlier Delta variant.

This newspaper reports that the Johnson and Johnson vaccine is a single-shot vaccine.

It is expected to boost Nigeria’s COVID-19 fight with the Delta variant sparking fears of a third wave of the pandemic.
