The Federal Government has carried out some changes in the top management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

Naija News reports that in the major top management reshuffle, the government made new appointments and redeployments at the corporation and scrapped the position of Chief Operating Officer which was introduced under Ibe Kachikwu, the immediate past Minister of State for Petroleum.

Announcing the changes at the corporation in a statement by the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, NNPC, Kennie Obateru, the state oil firm said the changes were geared towards attaining global excellence and profitability.

It said the Group General Manager, Crude Oil Marketing Division, Billy Okoye, was appointed the new Group Executive Director, Ventures & Business Development.

The NNPC Group General Manager, Supply Chain Management Division, Mrs. Aisha Ahmadu-Katagum, was appointed the new Group Executive Director, Corporate Services

The change witnessed the redeployment of Adeyemi Adetunji, the Chief Operating Officer, Ventures and Business Development Directorate as Group Executive Director, Downstream, a position left by Ewubare.

Engr. Adeyemi Adetunji, formerly Chief Operating Officer, Business & Ventures Development, becomes the Group Executive Director, Downstream, while Mr. Mohammed Abdulkabir Ahmed, formerly Chief Operating Officer, Corporate Services, becomes the Group Executive Director, Gas & Power.

The top-level staff movement also affected Mr. Mohammed Abdulkabir Ahmed, who was redeployed from the NNPC Corporate Services (Chief Operating Officer) to replace Engr. Yusuf Usman, who was disengaged as Chief Operating Officer, Gas & Power. However, Ahmed will function as the Group Executive Director in that division.

Meanwhile, Mr. Garba Deen Muhammad, the General Manager, Sales and Marketing, NNPC Retail Limited, takes over from Obateru as spokesman.

The Group Managing Director, NNPC, Mele Kyari, said the new appointments would enable the corporation to live up to the expectation of Nigerians and achieve its vision of becoming a world-class energy company of choice.
