Samuel Cosmos Akpan, a student of the University of Uyo has been apprehended by the police for allegedly killing his school roommate.

The suspect according to a report made available to newsmen by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, stabbed one Ubong Pelen Solomon to death.

SP Odiko Macedon, Police Public Relations Officer in the State who disclosed the incident in a press release on Monday, said Samuel and the deceased, Ubong were roommates at Idak Okpo Street near the campus and they had a little altercation on Saturday morning, August 7, 2021.

Samuel in a rage during the altercation reportedly took a knife from the room and stabbed Ubong who has just laid his mother to rest the previous day.

Naija News learnt that Ubong was later rushed to the University Medical Centre by some students but was confirmed dead moments later due to excessive loss of blood.

The police statement read partly: “the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, acting on a report received from one Solomon Pelen Solomon that his brother, one Ubong Pelen Solomon was stabbed by one Samuel Cosmos Akpan after an altercation on 7/8/2021 at about 10 am, and that he was taken to UniUyo Medical Centre where he gave up the ghost.

“Operatives of ‘A’ Division, Barracks Road responded swiftly, located and arrested the suspect at Idah Okpo Lane, Off Urua Ikpa Road, Uyo.

“The scene of the crime was visited and the corpse deposited at the mortuary.”

“Suspect has confessed to the crime and will have his day in court after the investigation,” he said.

The corpse of the victim has been deposited at the mortuary, Naija News understands.
