IPOB Sit-At-Home Order: Three Feard Killed In Anambra, Imo

Two persons have been killed in Nnewi, Anambra State on Monday amidst the sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Three buses were reportedly set ablaze in the industrial city of the state while a Toyota Camry vehicle was seen abandoned along the street with the driver said to have fled.

Naija News gathered there were gunshots around the Izuchukwu junction of the area around 6am.

Roads and major streets were deserted while markets, offices, banks and other public places remained closed at the time of filing the report.

When contacted, Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the incident, saying police operatives were already at the scene.

“I can confirm to you that there was an incident in Nnewi roundabout, police operatives are currently there but details are still sketchy.

“Further information will be communicated please,” he said.

In a related development, a passenger was burnt alive in Nkwogu, Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.

Two vehicles belonging to a popular transport company, Libra, were coming from Umuahia, Abia State capital when they ran into a group of hoodlums suspected to be members of IPOB.

It was gathered that they shot at the tyres, which forced the bus to stop, while passengers of the buses scuttled to safety.

Also, one of the drivers was reportedly shot on the hip, while the passenger could not escape before the bus was burnt down.

Also gathered that there was heavy shooting around Banana junction along Orlu-Owerri road as gunmen engaged security agents in a shoot-out.
