Nigeria’s Position On Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Medals Table

Its day 11 of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo and team Nigeria are now 64th on the medals table, Naija News reports.

Ese Brume had in the long jump category finished behind America’s Brittney Reese and Malaika Mihtambo of Germany to win the country’s first medal.

The 25-year-old female athlete recorded a jump of 6.97m in the final, clinching bronze. Meanwhile, Blessing Obodururu had also earned Nigeria a silver medal in the women’s freestyle 68kg event on Tuesday.

She lost 1-4 in the final to Tamyra Mensah-Stock of the U.S, who had defeated her three times earlier.

China leads the medals table with 32 gold, followed by the United States, 24; Japan, 19; and Australia 14.

President Muhammadu Buhari-led government had promised a reward of $15,000, $10,000 and $7,500 for gold, silver, and bronze medalists respectively at the Tokyo Olympics, Naija News reports.
