Scores Killed As Gunmen Invade Kogi Community

Gunmen suspected to be bandit terrorists have killed 17 residents and one policeman in attacks across five communities in Chawai chiefdom in the Kauru LGA of Kaduna State.

It was gathered that the villages attacked by the terrorists are; Kigom, Kikoba, Kishisho and Ungwa Magaji.

A resident of one of the affected communities told DailyTrust that the gunmen attacked their community, shooting sporadically.

Six people were reportedly killed at Ungwan Magaji, six in Kikoba, one in Kigam and five in Kishisho.

“The invaders destroyed property worth millions of naira including farmlands in the affected areas,” said the resident who doesn’t want his name mentioned said.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Kaduna Command, ASP Muhammed Jalige, did not pick calls or respond to a text message sent to him at the time of filing this report.

In other news, apartments allegedly occupied by kidnappers at BIPC Quarters, Nyiman Layout, Makurdi, have been demolished by the Benue State Government.

Naija News understands that the demolition was ordered by the State Governor, Samuel Ortom.

The directive was given after the governor visited the Nigeria Police Headquarters in Makurdi where the bodies of three kidnappers of the state commissioner’s wife, were paraded.

In line with provisions of the Benue State Law on Prohibition of Abduction, Hostage-taking/kidnapping, Cultism and similar activities, Ortom on Monday ordered the pulling down of the apartment by a pay-loader.
