Popular activist, Aisha Yesufu has reacted to the immediate suspension of the Head of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), DCP Abba Kyari, from the Nigeria Police Force.

Naija News earlier reported that IGP Usman Alkali Baba, in his letter to the Police Service Commission, dated 31st July, 2021, noted that the recommendation for the suspension of the officer, is in line with the internal disciplinary processes of the Force.

The details of the IGP’s letter recommending the suspension of Kyari were made available in a statement on Sunday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CP Frank Mba.

According to the statement, the IGP noted that the suspension is also expected to create an enabling environment for the NPF Special Investigation Panel to carry out its investigations into the weighty allegations against DCP Abba Kyari without interference.

The statement added that the suspension is without prejudice to the constitutional presumption of innocence in favour of the officer.

Reacting to the development, the co-founder of #BringBackOurGirls, Aisha Yesufu, described the suspension as fantastic news.

In a tweet via her Twitter page on Sunday, Yesufu commended the Inspector-General of Police boss for suspending Kyari pending the outcome of the investigation.

She wrote: “Fantastic News! Dear Buhari’s Government, You can see it is easy to do the right thing.”

“Competence character and capacity are things that one can acquire and hopefully this is the beginning for you”

“Well done to the IG of Police @PoliceNG for doing the needful. More expected.”
