1. Presidency Staff Take Oath Of Secrecy, Get Serious Warning

The Presidency has administered an oath of secrecy on staff members and threatens severe sanctions on them if they reveal any unauthorized information.

The Permanent Secretary, State House, Tijjani Umar on Tuesday in Abuja warned the affected members of staff that disobedience will attract penalties as prescribed under the public service rules.

The administration of the Oath of Secrecy and Declaration of Secrecy was performed on the staff members by Justice Hamza Muazu of the FCT High Court, Naija News understands.

The Permanent Secretary explained that the oaths were administered to staff members who handle classified documents.

2. FG Bans Sale Of Forex To BDCs Operators

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced the sale of Foreign Exchange (Forex) to Bureau De Change (BDCs) operators in the country.

Speaking at the end of the monetary policy committee meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, the governor of the apex bank, Godwin Emefiele, accused the BDC operators of facilitating graft and corruption in the country.

Emefiele noted that the operators are making efforts to dollarize the Nigerian economy and have become a conduit for illegal financial flows.

3. Benue: I’ll Rather Die Than Give Land To Fulani Herders – Ortom Tells Buhari

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has again declared that over his dead body will any land be allocated to Fulani herdsmen in the state.

The Governor who accused the herders of killing people in the state, raping the women, and rendering many homeless said the government of President Muhammadu Buhari is not sincere in dealing with insecurity.

Ortom spoke on Tuesday in Makurdi, the state capital when he received in audience the Medecins Sans Frontieres, also known as Doctors without Borders.

He said the government of President Buhari has the capacity to stop the criminal activities of the herdsmen but has intentionally failed to do so.

4. Lai Mohammed Reveals Those Sponsoring Secession Agitations In Nigeria

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has alleged that some Nigerians living outside the country are responsible for financing agitators and their activities in Nigeria.

The Minister made the submission on Tuesday when he played host to members of Nigerians in the Diaspora Organisation, United Kingdom Chapter in Abuja.

He said the agitators are receiving major backings against the government by Nigerians residing outside the country.

Mohammed however observed that the narratives been peddled by the agitators and their sponsors are not true, therefore urging Nigerians in diaspora to help in tackling the false narratives.

5. Resign With Immediate Effect; Blood Flowing In Nigeria – Gumi Tells Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has been asked by an Islamic cleric, Ahmad Gumi to resign over the insecurity challenges in the country.

The cleric in a video noted that the same advice he gave to former President Goodluck Jonathan is the same he would give to President Buhari.

According to SaharaReporters, Gumi made this call while addressing a Muslim gathering.

The cleric noted that he has two options either which to apologize to Jonathan or to ask Buhari to resign. He said he was not left with a third option, insisting that Buhari should resign for not tackling insecurity.

6. IGP Approves Posting/Redeployment Of Top Officers

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba has approved the posting and redeployment of 24 Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs).

The posting/redeployment of the AIGs was confirmed in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CP Frank Mba.

The statement noted that the posting to Zonal Commands and Formations is in line with the new Manpower Development Policy of the Force and they are with immediate effect.

7. Minister Reveals Buhari Government’s Plan On The Media

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari administration is focused on ensuring an enabling environment for robust media practice in the country.

Naija News understands that the minister stated this in his speech at the opening of a 2-day 2021 edition of the Annual Roundtable on Cultural Orientation (ARTCO) by the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO).

According to Mohammed, the Buhari-led administration has no plan of muzzling the Nigerian media. The minister stated this while reacting to controversies that have trailed the regulatory directives this government has churned out.

He stressed that the incumbent government’s position on the regulation was in furtherance of national interest which was in line with global best practices.

8. Wrestle Power From Elders In 2023, Yahaya Bello Tells Youths

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has asked Nigerian youths to take over political power from old politicians during the 2023 elections.

Bello stated this on Tuesday in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state, at a conference themed: ‘Youths Own The Power’. The conference was organized by a group known as Afenifere for Collective Transformation (ACT).

The governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Folasade Ayoade, noted that Nigerian youths have not shown a strong desire to take over power in 2023.

Bello urged the youths to be more organized for a united front ahead of 2023 and not to be indifferent on issues concerning sensitive leadership positions in the country.

9. Nnamdi Kanu: Buhari Govt Kidnapped My Son From Kenya – Ezeife

The former Governor of Old Anambra State, Chukwuemeka Ezeife, has described the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, as his son.

The former Governor while speaking with newsmen at the Federal High Court, Abuja on Monday said, “He is my son, and whatever is the situation, he is my son. They did not bring him to court.”

Ezeife was one of the politicians from the South East appointed by Ohanaeze Ndigbo leadership to represent the organization to witness Kanu’s trial.

The former Governor noted that he was in the court to represent Ndigbo, accusing President Muhammadu Buhari government of kidnapping the IPOB leader.

10. Atiku Is Eligible To Vie For Presidency, Adamawa Govt Tells Court

The Adamawa Government has told a Federal High Court, Abuja, that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was eligible to vie for the office of the president.

The Attorney-General of Adamawa, Afraimu Jingi, told Justice Inyang Ekwo while moving a motion on notice, seeking to be joined in the suit filed by a group against Atiku and three others.

The group, an Incorporated Trustees of Egalitarian Mission for Africa (EMA), in a suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/177/2019 had sued Atiku, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) as 1st to 4th respondents respectively.

EMA is challenging Atiku’s eligibility to contest for presidency on the grounds that he was not a Nigerian citizen by birth.
