Buy Weapons To Defend Yourselves - Gov Ortom Tells Benue Residents Again

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has again declared that over his dead body will any land be allocated to Fulani herdsmen in the state.

The Governor who accused the herders of killing people in the state, raping the women, and rendering many homeless said the government of President Muhammadu Buhari is not sincere in dealing with insecurity.

Ortom spoke on Tuesday in Makurdi, the state capital when he received in audience the Medecins Sans Frontieres, also known as Doctors without Borders.

He said the government of President Buhari has the capacity to stop the criminal activities of the herdsmen but has intentionally failed to do so.

According to him, “Our people are dying, our women, mothers are being raped, our children can’t go to school, they are suffering.

“These criminals, they display themselves on social media, claiming they are here for an agenda to drive our people away and take over their land and also kill them.

“And they are here courtesy of the Federal Government but for me, if they come, then I’m ready to die rather than to surrender my land to Fulani men. If God didn’t protect me, then I need no help from anybody.”

Meanwhile, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has alleged that some Nigerians living outside the country are responsible for financing agitators and their activities in Nigeria.

The Minister made the submission on Tuesday when he played host to members of Nigerians in the Diaspora Organisation, United Kingdom Chapter in Abuja.

He said the agitators are receiving major backings against the government by Nigerians residing outside the country.
