Latest Biafra/IPOB News For Saturday, June 12th, 2021

Good day, Nigeria, welcome to Naija News roundup of Biafra/IPOB news headlines for today Monday, July 26th, 2021.

Below is a roundup of top stories on Biafra, IPOB, ESN, Nnamdi Kanu and other pro-Biafra groups:

IPOB’s Nnamdi Kanu Trial Postponed

The trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has been postponed.
Naija News reports that the IPOB leader’s trial was adjourned till October 21st, 2021.

Justice Binta Nyako adjourned the trial on Monday at the resumption of proceedings at the court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The trial suffered a setback after the Department of State Services (DSS) failed to produce Kanu in court.

The judge slammed the action of the DSS noting that she had stayed back in her chambers waiting for the defendant to be in court.

She asked the prosecution to be diligent with dates whenever she gives one, stressing that it was important for Kanu to be present at his trial.

Nnamdi Kanu To Remain With DSS As Court Reject Transfer Request

Justice Binta Nyako has rejected a request to transfer the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) to Kuje correctional centre.

Naija News reports that the judge gave the order on Monday during the resumption of Kanu’s trial in Abuja.

Nnamdi Kanu through his counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, had asked Justice Nyako to transfer him as he cannot get a fair trial if he remains in the custody of the DSS.

He also sought for an order to grant him access to his medical doctor for the purpose of carrying out a comprehensive independent medical examination on him.

Ruling on the application, Justice Nyako ordered that the DSS should allow access to Kanu, although it won’t be a free-for-all.

IPOB Accuses Anglican Archbishop, Uzor Kalu Of Betraying Nnamdi Kanu

The Indigenous People of Biafra on Monday accused more personalities in the Southeast of allegedly betraying its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

The group alleged that Archbishop Emmanuel Chukwuma of the Anglican communion Enugu; Senator Orji Uzor Kalu; Arthur Eze of Anambra State, worked with the federal government to arrest and repatriate Kanu.

The spokesman of the group, Emma Powerful, in a statement released on Monday claimed that they betrayed Kanu due to their selfish interest and political gains.
