Ilana Omo Oodua Gives Fresh Update On Sunday Igboho Travails



The umbrella body of the Yoruba nation movement, Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide has given fresh update on the trial of Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho.

Naija News reports that Sunday Igboho was arrested last Monday in Benin Republic alongside his wife, Ropo, which trying to board a flight to Germany.

The Court D’Apeal in Cotonou, Benin Republic, had on Thursday adjourned the trial of Sunday Igboho till today Monday, July 26.

This was to allow the Nigerian Government to file extradition charges and bring up whatever evidence they may have.

The court however ordered the immediate release of Ropo, a German citizen, and ordered the return of her passport.

In a statement obtained by Naija News on Monday morning, Ilana Omo Oodua revealed that Ropo has now be granted access to her husband three times daily.

According to the statement signed by the group’s Communications Manager, Maxwell Adeleye, medical doctors have also been granted access to the agitator.

The statement reads: “We are pleased to inform all Yoruba People and well-wishers that the Security Operatives in Benin Republic have removed leg chain and hand-cuff from Chief Ighoho since Saturday evening.

“Chief Ighoho’s Wife has now been granted access to meet her husband three times daily.

“Medical Personnel provided by our legal team have examined Chief Sunday Adeyemo.

“We reiterate that Chief Ighoho is not under any immigration-related probe in Benin Republic.

“Chief Sunday Adeyemo will appear in court this morning in Benin Republic to face the likely extradition charges to be brought against him by the Nigerian Government.

“We urge supporters from Nigeria not to bother coming to the court premises in Bénin. Kindly stay in Nigeria and support with prayers and whatever you can do within the ambit of the law. We are confident that Chief Igboho shall be set free.”
