Biafra: Leadership Crisis Rocks IPOB After Nnamdi Kanu’s Arrest

The outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is reportedly being rocked with crisis following the arrest of its leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

He was reportedly rearrested in Kenya and extradited back to Nigeria on the 27th of June, 2021.

The secessionist was then arraigned before Justice Binta Nyako who ordered his remand in the custody of the DSS until his next trial date which is July 26 and 27.

Reports have now emerged that Kanu and his close associate had an issue over the control and handling of IPOB’s finances, a situation that made him embark on the Kenyan trip without their knowledge.

The Indigenous People of Biafra has threatened the Federal Government over its warning not to appear in court on Monday during the hearing of the suit filed against its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

The group in a statement told President Muhammadu Buhari government to be prepared to shoot and kill many of them on Monday.

IPOB members vowed that the warning of the federal government would not stop its members and other Biafrans from flooding the court.

Recall that the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, had warned members of IPOB to stay away from the court on Monday.

Ohanaeze Appoints Ezeife To Lead Delegation To Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial

The Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has appointed a former Governor of Anambra State, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife, to lead a delegation to the trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, in Abuja on Monday.

The President General o the organisation, Prof George Obiozor, announced the appointment in a statement on Saturday.

Obiozor also appointed the National Legal Adviser of the organisation, Barrister Joseph Ojobu and Chief Goddy Uwazurike as members of the delegation.

According to Ohanaeze president, Ojobu and Uwazurike will be the lawyers representing the group on a watching brief.
