Bandits Release Fresh Batch Of Kidnapped Kaduna Baptist School Students

Some of the kidnapped students from Bethel Baptist High School, Damishi, Kaduna have been released by the bandits who abducted them.

28 students out of those who were kidnapped from their hostels by bandits on July 5, regained freedom after 20 days in captivity, Naija News reports.

According to a report monitored by our correspondent on The Cable, the Kaduna state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigerian (CAN), Joseph Hayab confirmed their release on Sunday.

A total of 121 students were initially abducted from their hostels during the unfortunate incident. But earlier, Abraham Aniya, one of the students, was rescued by security operatives alongside two other victims some days ago along Kaduna-Kachia road.

“On July 12, at about 1540hrs, operatives of the command, alongside Civilian JTF on routine rescue patrol around the forest of Tsohon Gaya village, Chikun LGA of Kaduna State, stumbled on three kidnapped victims roaming the bush, extremely exhausted and weak,” Mohammed Jalige, public relations officer of Kaduna police command, had said.

Meanwhile, the Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government has extended the deadline for NIN-SIM data verification to October 31, 2021.

Naija News reports that this was made known in a joint statement titled ‘FG Extends NIN-SIM verification deadline to 31st October, 2021′.

The statement was signed by the Director, Public Affairs Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Ikechukwu Adinde; and the Head, Corporate Communications, Nigeria Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Kayode Adegoke.

Recall that the FG had approved the extension of the deadline for NIN-SIM data verification to July 26, 2021.

According to the statement, registration will now shift focus to remote and hard-to-reach areas, schools and health centres.
