What IPOB Members Must Do During Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial – Deji Adeyanju

The convener, Concerned Nigerians group, Prince Deji Adeyanju, has called on members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to storm the Abuja High Court on Monday.

Naija News reports that IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will on Monday, July 26th begin his trial after extradition from Kenya.

Adeyanju, a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), explained that such action is the only language President Muhammadu Buhari understands.

According to the activist, Nnamdi Kanu’s supporters should not be afraid to storm the court and show solidarity on Monday.

Deji Adeyanju wrote on Twitter: “I appeal to Nnamdi Kanu’s supporters to flood the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday as they begin his trial.

“That is the language Buhari understands. Don’t let anyone scare you. Citizens have the right to protest and also to attend the trial of one of their own.”

In a statement on Friday, counsel to the IPOB leader, Ifeanyi Ejiofor,had  said his client would appear in court despite an annual vacation for judges.

Ejiofor added that he received a confirmation from the Federal High Court Abuja, that the hearing of Kanu’s case will proceed as scheduled.

He said: “We have just received a confirmation from the Federal High Court Abuja, that Hearing on Our Client’s case above referred will still go on as earlier scheduled on Monday next week being the 26th Day of July 2021.”

Kanu’s case was hanging in the balance due to an annual vacation for federal judges which is expected to last till September 17, 2021.

He was reportedly rearrested in Kenya and extradited back to Nigeria on the 27th of June, 2021.

The secessionist was then arraigned before Justice Binta Nyako who ordered his remand in the custody of the DSS until his next trial date which is July 26 and 27.

Kanu, who is facing an 11-count charge of treason, treasonable felony, terrorism and illegal possession of firearms, among others, jumped bail in 2017 and left the country, only to re-emerge in Israel and then in the United Kingdom.
