Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere has asked the Federal Government to treat bandits and terrorists the way it has been treating Sunday ‘Igboho’ Adeyemo, and Nnamdi Kanu.

Naija News had reported that the Yoruba Nation activist was arrested at the Cotonou Cadjehoun Airport, Benin Republic on Monday night.

The counsel to Igboho, Yomi Aliyu, revealed that his client was arrested by the International Criminal Police Organisation while he tried to catch a flight to Germany with his wife.

Reacting to Igboho’s arrest in a statement on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Jare Ajayi, Afenifere berated the government for hunting secessionist leaders in the country.

The group condemned the arrest of Sunday Igboho and Nnamdi Kanu, saying that security agencies appear to be more active in hunting agitators than they appear to be in dealing with bandits and terrorists.

He noted that the news of the arrest was a surprise but the body is still studying the situation before making a formal statement as details of the arrest is still sketchy.

He said: “If half of the energy deployed to apprehend (leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra) Nnamdi Kanu, and Sunday Igboho had been deployed to the menace of terrorists and bandits who kill, rape, rob and kidnap people, we would not have been in the unfortunate security mess that we are presently.”
