Popular Cleric Predicts Winner Of Anambra Governorship Poll

The names of some party candidates in the scheduled November 6 Anambra Governorship election were conspicuously missing in the list released on Friday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The list released by the electoral umpire did not contain the names of the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Mr Valentine Ozigbo, and that of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.

However, the name of the candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Andy Uba, was contained in the list of cleared candidates released by the commission.

Naija News understands the decision of INEC is in compliance with a court order in relation to the primaries of the political parties.

INEC in the list, declared a member of the House of Representatives, Chukwuma Michael Umeoji as the flagbearer of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

The decisions were contained in a statement on Friday by INEC National Commissioner and Chairman (Information and Voter Education Committee), Festus Okoye, after the commission’s meeting held in Abuja on Thursday.

Okoye said the commission would continue to act in compliance with the constitution, the laws establishing it, and court orders.

According to the list, 18 political parties and candidates would participate in the November poll.

Okoye added that the personal particulars of the candidates would be published in the Commissions Notice Board in Awka, Anambra State.
