Buhari Storms Kano, Katsina Today – Presidency Confirms
President Muhammadu Buhari will today (Thursday) pay a working visit to Kano State and then cross over to Katsina State to inaugurate some projects.
This was confirmed in a Facebook post on Thursday morning by presidential media aide, Bashir Ahmad.
Taking to his page, Ahmad wrote: “After his working visit to Kano, President Muhammadu Buhari will also visit Katsina State today, where he is expected to inaugurate the Multi-billion naira Zobe Water Dam Project and the 50-kilometer Dutsinma/Tsaskiya road in Dutsinma LGA.”
Earlier on Wednesday, the president’s official spokesperson, Garba Shehu in an article titled ‘THE COMING OF KANO-KADUNA MODERN RAILWAY AND ITS SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC SIGNIFICANCE’ had also confirmed the President will be commissioning some projects on Thursday.
He wrote: “President Muhammadu Buhari will on Thursday lay the foundation stone of the Kano-Abuja sector of the Lagos-Kano railway modernization project.”
“The Lagos-Kano rail project is part of the 25-year vision approved by the Federal Government for the rail transportation in 2002. The contract for it was signed on 30th October, 2002 and assigned to a Chinese Company, China Civil Engineering Construction Company, CCECC.”
It will be recalled Naija News previously reported that the Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has commenced security beef up in the state in preparation for President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit.
As part of security measures, the state police command on Wednesday announced the scheduled closure of some major highways in the state. The affected highways are Dutsinma-Kankara and Dutsinma-Tsaskiya.
Also to be closed are adjoining roads to them. The closure as contained in the announcement will be from 1PM to 6PM on Thursday.
The command also announced restrictions on the movements of commuters, cyclists and herders during the period.
