Operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) have reportedly arrested three Israelis for shooting a documentary in Anambra State.

A statement released on Tuesday by the Israeli Foreign Ministry said the DSS arrested and interrogated the trio on suspicion of coming in contact with members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The ministry noted the Israeli Embassy in Abuja is following the case closely and is in contact with Nigerian authorities.

According to the statement, the arrested Israelis are Rudy Rochman, Noam Leibman, and French-Israeli journalist E. David Benaym.

It added that the Israelis were in Nigeria to film “We Were Never Lost,” a documentary exploring Jewish communities in African countries such as Kenya, Madagascar, Uganda, and Nigeria.

However, it was learned that the filmmakers were detained at a synagogue during a Friday night service in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State and later taken to Abuja.
