Lai Mohammed vs Kwara Gov: Buni Meets Kwara Senators

National Convention: Buni, CECPC Members To Meet APC Senators

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Gov. Mai Mala Buni has held a meeting with the three Senators from Kwara State over the disagreements within the party at the state level.

The current disagreements within the APC in Kwara has pitched the state governor, Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman against the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed with both struggling to control the party structure in the state.

However, as part of efforts to reconcile the aggrieved parties, Governor Buni on Sunday, held a meeting with the three Senators from the state.

According to a statement signed by the DG, Press and Media Affairs to Governor Buni, Mamman Mohammed the leaders discussed how to promote unity and progress in Kwara APC.

The statement reads: “HE Yobe state Governor and Chairman APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, today received three Senators representing Kwara state.”

“Receiving Senators Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe (Kwara Central), Oyelola Yisa Ashiru (Kwara South) and Sadiq Suleiman Umar (Kwara North), Governor Buni, said the meeting centered on promotion of unity in the party in Kwara state.”

“He said the national leadership of the party will continue to support unity and progress of APC in the state.

“As you are aware, the Caretaker committee is repositioning the party, reconciling differing opinions to build strong and united membership that will improve the fortunes of the party” he said.

He assured that the party leadership has great respect for due process, discipline, and all programmes that will contribute to making the party strong.

The senators assured that they will continue to promote unity in the party.

They commended Governor Buni for giving the party the desired leadership with a sense of direction.

“We will use our positions to help build a strong APC in kwara state and to contribute meaningfully in the assembly to support the APC-led government to improve the lives of Nigerians” Sen. Ashiru said on behalf of others.

Meanwhile, former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Attahiru Jega has warned against the confirmation of Lauretta Onochie as a National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
