The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman, and his Lagos counterpart, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to oversee the party’s reconciliation efforts in Anambra State.

The appointment is coming at a time when the Kwara Governor and the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed are at loggerheads over the party structure in Kwara.

Both leaders have been trading claims and counterclaims about the APC structure in Kwara, leading to the factionalization of the party in Kwara.

Announcing the appointment of Abdulrahman and Sanwo-Olu, the National Secretary of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the APC, Sen John James Akpanudoedehe in a statement on Sunday said the two governors were appointed to bring together and reconcile all aggrieved members of the party in Anambra State following the primaries which produced the party candidate for the November 6 governorship election in the state.

The statement reads: “Following the recently-concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) Primaries to elect the Party’s flagbearer for the November 6th Anambra State Governorship Elections, the Governor Mai Mala Buni-chaired Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) has appointed the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-olu and the Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman to unify and strengthen the party in the state ahead of the elections.”

“The two party leaders are charged with the responsibility of bringing together all the erstwhile aspirants and their supporters to join the campaign organisation of the party and achieve victory for the APC in the state.”

“The Chairman of CECPC mandated the two governors to do everything reasonable and necessary to ensure that all feuding parties, erstwhile aspirants and their supporters close ranks and work for the APC to resoundly defeat contestants fielded by other political parties.”

“We look forward to a unified front and a shared commitment to support the party before, during and after the election.”

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has also constituted a three-member committee to run the affairs of the party in Zamfara State.

National Secretary, APC Caretaker and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Senator John Akpanudoedehe, said this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.

He said while Senator Hassan Gusau will serve as chairman of the committee, Muntari Anka will serve as its Deputy Chairman and Prof. Abdullahi Shinkafi as secretary.
