2023: Badaru Speaks On Withdrawing From Presidential Race

Governor Muhammadu Badaru of Jigawa State has revealed why members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party are defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress in their thousands.

Speaking at the reception of Senator Grace Bent in Yola on Saturday, Badaru stated that PDP members are joining the APC because of President Muhammadu Buhari’s achievements in all sectors of the country.

According to the governor, President Buhari has ensured infrastructural development to fast-track sustainable social and economic development in the country.

He added that the President is always thinking about Nigerians, and how the progress of the nation will be achieved.

Badaru also commended Buhari for his economic policies, particularly the implementation of the agriculture transformation and the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP).

The Jigawa governor said the Buhari administration had made giant strides towards improving road, rail, aviation and power infrastructure as well as various interventions designed to address social, economic and security challenges in the country.

He said: “Buhari is honest, transparent and sleeps with Nigerians at heart.

“Nigerians begin to see the effort of Buhari in all sectors and people are now joining the APC in thousands.”

On his part, Chairman, APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, and governor of Yobe state, Mai Mala Buni, congratulated Bent for joining the party.

Buni, represented by former Senate President Ken Nnamani, said she would be carried along and treated like other members of the party.
