Bandits Marry Off Kidnapped School Children In Yobe State

Female Officer Kidnapped As Gunmen Attack Enugu Police Station

Some of the female students kidnapped from their secondary school in Yobe State have been married off by their abductors, the kidnappers have told the parents of their victims.

The parents raised the alarm adding that the kidnappers sent them footage showing their daughters are already married.

Naija News recalls the girls were kidnapped from the Federal Girls’ College Yawuri, Kebbi State about two weeks ago.

According to Daily Trust, one of the parents told BBC Hausa that whenever they called the kidnappers, they would tell them that their children are safe and healthy.

The parent, however, added that the kidnappers have informed them that they would only negotiate with the government and not the parents.

“Sometimes they call and give us our daughters to talk to us. If your child has your number then they will call and talk to you, But I have never spoken with my daughter since the time they were abducted,” he said.

Only 10 of the abducted girls have been able to call and speak with their parents since the abduction took place, he added.

The parent disclosed further that some of the parents held a meeting with the Kebbi state government where they were promised that their children will be rescued but unfortunately, they are yet to hear or see anything.

“The governor expressed his concern and said action would be taken, today is about two weeks but we have not heard anything,” he said.

As Eid is fast approaching, he said rather than be happy like others, they are living in constant fear and worry. He, therefore, urged the government to ensure the safe return of their children.

He said: “Every other person lives happily in their houses, but we are in a state of anxiety.”

Meanwhile, some unknown armed men suspected to be bandits have kidnapped Habibu Mainasara, the provost of the College of Arts and Animal Science in Zamfara State.

Reports say Mainasara was whisked away by the unidentified gunmen in the early hours of Sunday.

The report of the disturbing event, Naija News understands is coming not long after bandits abducted the Emir of Kajuru and 12 of his family members in Kaduna State.
