3-Year-Old Nigerian Girl, Others Arrested In Bangladesh

Three Nigerian nationals, including a preschooler, have been arrested and detained in Sylhet over illegal migration.

Naija News understands that the Nigerian citizens were apprehended for illegally entering Bangladesh from India.

They were nabbed near the Tamabil land port on Thursday morning, July 8 following an intelligence on their movement.

The detainees have been identified as Emmanuel Nnamdi Ohagwam, 42, his 3-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Favour Osinachi Ohagwam and Paul Ebeodi Okechukwu, 27.

Items recovered from them includes a laptop, nine mobile phone handsets, three passports, a driving licence, an Indian Aadhaar card, a Nigerian NID card, and $1,600, and ?280 in cash.

Subsequently, they were handed over to the Gowainghat police station. Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Gowainghat police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Parimal Dev said that Nigerian nationals “are now being questioned.”

Meanwhile, Border Guard Bangladesh, BGB had on June 29, detained a 31-year-old Nigerian national named Onyebuchukwu Stanley Egwu in Sylhet for allegedly sneaking into Bangladesh from India through the Tamabil land port, Naija News understands.
