Lagos Police To Arraign Arrested Yoruba Nation Agitators

The Lagos Police Command is set to arraign the 49 suspects arrested during the aborted Oodua Republic Mega Rally in the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park in the state on Saturday.

Recall that the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, had paraded 49 suspects at the command headquarters in Ikeja on Sunday.

Odumosu said the suspects were arrested for violating the ban that no rally or gathering should hold in the state.

The commissioner said the suspects will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for investigation and prosecution.

Speaking to the PUNCH on Monday, Odumosu said the 49 suspects will be charged to court after investigation into their offences is completed.

The commissioner added that the command was still gathering evidence, adding that after completing the investigation, the suspects would go to court.

He, however, denied reports that they were no plans to relocate the suspects to Abuja for further prosecution.

He said, “Investigation is ongoing, when we complete the investigation, they will be charged. For now, the investigation is still ongoing and after we gather further evidence, we will charge them to court.
