Again, Bandits Kill 19, Burn Houses In Katsina Community

Some gunmen suspected to be bandits have reportedly killed no fewer than nineteen people in Katsina State.

Naija News learnt that the gun-wielding men stormed Tsauwa, a village in the Batsari Local Government Area of the state and set houses and grains reserves on fire while they also allegedly cart away valuables and domestic animals after killing scores.

According to residents, the bandits stormed the village around 11.30 p.m on Monday and operated till the early hours of Tuesday (today). It was revealed that the bandits upon arrival at the village, started shooting indiscriminately, resulting in the death of the victims.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, one of the residents who pleaded anonymity, noted that the bandits also shot at those fleeing the village for safety in neighbouring communities.

The resident said, “When they (the bandits) came, they started shooting and pursuing people who were trying to escape and those attempting to escape into the forest.

He added: “As at last count, they killed 19 persons and we buried them this morning (Tuesday) while those injured have been taken to hospital for treatment.”

When contacted, the Spokesman for the Katsina police command, Gambo Isah, said he was already in contact with the DPO for the area to get details of the incident.

Meanwhile, a Nigerian Army commander, Maj MS Samaila, has been killed by bandits while travelling on the Kano-Maiduguri Road on Saturday.
Samaila, before his death, was the AG Commanding Officer of the 196 Amphibious battalion in the Isiala Ngwa area of Abia State, Naija News understands.
