Bandits Kill Seven Victims In Kaduna State

Chinese National, 11 Bandits Shot Dead In Zamfara

Bandits operating in some communities within Kaduna State have killed up to seven persons within three days.

This development has been confirmed by the Kaduna State government in a statement on Sunday by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan.

The killing of seven persons happened in different locations in the state, Naija News reports.

According to Aruwan, the bandits killed their victims in Chikun, Kajuru, and Giwa Local Government Areas of the state, adding that the security agencies confirmed the incidents to the state government on Saturday.

He explained that the security report revealed that the bandits shot four victims of kidnap dead at the outskirts of Tsohon Gayan general area of Chikun.

“Two of the victims were from Kakau village of the same LGA. The third was identified as being from Kachia town and the fourth remains yet unidentified,” he said.

The commissioner’s statement added that a gang of bandits also shot and killed two people in Iri Station, Kajuru council area.

“Also one person, a native of Tsohon Farakwai of Igabi LGA, was similarly killed by bandits at the outskirts of Galadima general area of Giwa LGA,” it added.

The State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has already sent condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the repose of their souls.

He said that the security agencies had also visited the Iri Station where some victims were killed.

The Commissioner also urged collaboration between communities and security agencies, adding that the collaboration was critical and must be cultivated in the interests of state security.

Meanwhile, the incumbent Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has declared support for the presidency to return to the south when President Muhammadu Buhari completes his tenure in 2023.

This comes at a time when the political class is still divided on the issue of zoning or not ahead of the 2023 presidential elections in Nigeria.

But speaking in an interview with BBC Pidgin, Governor El-Rufai after ruling himself out of running for Nigeria’s presidency, said a southerner should become Nigeria’s next leader after President Buhari.
