Why We Postponed Passage Of 2023 Budget - Lawan

The upper chamber of Nigeria’s bicameral legislature has given a deadline for the submission of a report on the N895 billion supplementary budget.

Naija News understands that Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, during plenary on Tuesday, asked the Senate on the Supplementary Budget to submit their report unfailingly on Wednesday (tomorrow).

Lawan stated this following a request by the Chairman Senate Committee on Appropriations, Barau Jibrin, for more time to enable the panel to conclude its work.

The senate head noted that it is unnecessary for the committee to ask for more time since the supplementary budget only pertains to two sectors of security and health.

He said the report need be submitted in view of myriads of other Bills and reports that require the Senate’s attention at this time.

Meanwhile, former President of the Nigerian Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has asked Nigerians, especially the youths to go out and enrol for the ongoing continuous voters’ registration exercise.
Naija News had reported earlier that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will on Monday (today) resume the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).
