Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu

The British High Commission has reacted to the arrest of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

A spokesperson of the British High Commission, Dean Hurlock, while speaking with TheCable said Kanu was not picked up in the UK where he is based.

The Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the federation, Abubakar Malami, during a media briefing said the IPOB leader was arrested on Sunday due to “the collaborative efforts of Nigerian intelligence and security services”.

Malami, however, did not disclose where Kanu was arrested, but Hurlock noted that Kanu was arrested outside of the UK.

Hurlock in a text message wrote, “We can confirm that Nnamdi Kanu was not arrested in the UK for extradition purposes.”

In a related development, a former aide to ex-president, Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has hinted that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, was rearrested in Kenya.

The former presidential aide noted that a top official of the federal government disclosed this to him.

Omokri further stated that the United Kingdom is not aware of Kanu’s rearrest and extradition to Nigeria.
