Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has finally constituted the Governing Council of the Lagos State University (LASU).
Naija News reports that this was made known in a statement by Sanwo-Olu’s special adviser on education, Tokunbo Wahab.
According to the statement, the Lagos State governor appointed a former accountant general David Sunmoni chairman of the 13-member governing council.
He noted that the appointment was based on a report of the special visitation panel on the appointment of the ninth vice-chancellor.
The visitation panel also recommended the dissolution of the previous governing council of the university and by the powers conferred on the governor by the Lagos State University Law, Cap L69 volume 7, Laws of Lagos State, 2015 (as amended).
Other council members of the council are Amuwo Shaffudeen, Anuoluwa Eso, Tolani Sule, Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, Karl Toriola, Adekunle Soname, Foluke Abdul- Rasaq, Moronke Williams, Adebayo Akinsanya, Adenike Fasheun, Mojisola Taiwo, and Hakeem Adetugbobo.
Recall that the Lagos governor had ordered the removal of the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council.
He also ordered cancellation of the second failed exercise to appoint the 9th Substantive Vice-Chancellor as a result of the flagrant contravention of extant laws, breach of due process, failure and total disregard to follow its own laid down criteria guiding the process for the appointment of a 9th Vice-Chancellor as publicly advertised.
