Fuel Tanker Explosion Kill Scores In Benue Community – [Photo]

A Monday morning fuel tanker explosion has reportedly killed scores in Benue State.

The horrible event occurred today in the Amoke village of Apa Local Government Area of the state, Naija News reports. It was gathered that the incident occurred when the vehicle fully loaded with Petroleum product went into flame in the area.

An eyewitness, Godfrey Idede who confirmed the incident to newsmen some moments ago said the number of casualties recorded could not be ascertained at that moment.

He revealed that the incident led to panic in the area as economic activities came to an abrupt halt.

Confirming the incident, the Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in the state, Yakubu Mohammed, said only three persons were killed.

Mohammed who attributed the unfortunate incident to brake failure said aside from the three victims, no other person sustained injury.

He stated that the fire was put out after some hours, noting that there was no Fire Service stationed close to the scene of the incident.
