Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has commiserated with the family of the student who lost his life during a protest by students in Kaduna State.

The Governor described the killing of the student by security operatives deployed to control the situation as unfortunate.

It will be recalled as previously reported by Naija News that the student was shot dead when security operatives made an attempt to disperse students of the Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya who were protesting a hike in their school fees.

The Governor in a statement on Monday through the state commissioner for internal security and home affairs, Samuel Aruwan also wished students wounded during the incident a quick recovery.

The statement read: “The Kaduna State Government is awaiting full reports on Monday’s protest by students of the Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya.”

“In the preliminary report received so far, one student lost his life and some others were wounded, while three security personnel also sustained injuries.”

“The Governor of Kaduna state, Malam Nasir El-Rufai condoled the family of the student that lost his life, and wished the students and operatives who sustained injuries speedy recovery.

The government of Kaduna State also wishes to debunk reports that it deployed security operatives to suppress protesting students. KDSG is awaiting briefings to enable it understand the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate violent incidence in Gidan Waya.”

Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the death of one student of the College of Education Gidan waya Kafanchan in Kaduna State.

According to the police, the student died after sustaining injuries following a clash between police operatives and students who were protesting tuition hike.
