Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has berated controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi over his closeness to bandits.
Naija News recalls that Gumi had severally defended bandits who are consistently abducting school children, travellers and other residents in the North, stating that they were not up for killing but to make some money.
Reports emerged on Friday revealing that the Department of State Services (DSS) had invited Gumi for questioning over his controversial comments.
But the cleric later dismissed such reports, claiming he was never invited for questioning or arrested, this is despite confirmation of his arrest by DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunnaya.
In a post on his Twitter page on Saturday, Fani-Kayode who described him as a terrorist, said Gumi should have been arrested long ago.
According to the former minister, wondered what the cleric gains by constantly defending killer bandits.
The tweet reads, “The issue is not who goes into the forest to meet the terrorists with you but rather what you say to them when you get there & what you gain by constantly defending them & attempting to justify and rationalise their barbaric actions.
“You are their best friend: that makes you a terrorist as well and you ought to have been arrested long ago.”
