The unexpected postponement of President Muhammadu Buhari‘s trip to London for a medical check-up has been linked to the protest at the Abuja House in London, United Kingdom, which happens to be the destination of the President.

Naija News had earlier reported that the President was scheduled to travel out of the country today (Friday) for his routine medical check-up in London.

The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Femi Adesina, on Thursday, had disclosed that the president would be back in the country by the second week of July

However, in the early hours of Friday, some Nigerians stormed the Abuja House in London to protest against the security issue in the South-East of Nigeria.

A large number of Nigerians were spotted at the residence in a live video shared by BBC pidgin, while they chanted songs in English and Igbo Language.

One of the protesters said, “These are the Igbos, the ones that their youths are being killed.

“The Nigerian Army, police are in South-East killing our youths. Our parents have been maimed, our mothers have been raped, kidnapped, the Nigerian government has killed us, we are being marginalised”.

Hours after the report of the protest emanated, the spokesman of the president, Femi Adesina announced the postponement of the President’s trip.

He noted that a new date will be announced soon and failed to reveal the reason for the sudden decision.

Few moments after the report circulated on social media, Buhari’s spokesman, Femi Adesina announced the postponement of the trip stating that a new date will be announced soon.
