The Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, on Thursday, denied the claim that his late Commissioner for Infrastructural Development for Concession, Fidelis Nweze, has risen from the dead.
There were reports that Nweze resurrected at the morgue of the Turkish hospital in Abuja.
The news of his resurrection caused wild jubilation among his relatives, friends and well-wishers in Abakaliki and other areas in the state.
According to NAN, hundreds of well-wishers stormed his houses in Abakaliki and hometown, Onueke in Ezza South Local Government Area of the state, singing, dancing and making merry that God had raised him from the dead.
Umahi while reacting to the statement released by his spokesman, Francis Nwaze, described the report as ‘fake news.
The Ebonyi State Governor called on the residents of the state to stop spreading fake news as it is inflicting more pains on those currently mourning.
According to him, there was no pictorial evidence or confirmation from the hospital.
“We have to accept the reality before us though the deceased’s death was difficult to swallow,” the statement added.
