Ondo: Why Appeal Court Is Delaying Release Of Judgment – PDP

The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Court of Appeal of delaying the release of the certified true copies of last week’s judgment to its governorship candidate, Eyitayo Jegede.

Naija News recalls that Appeal Court had dismissed Jegede’s appeal against the ruling of the tribunal, which upheld the victory of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN).

Justice Theresa Ngolika Orji-Abadua, who read the lead judgment partly allowed the appeal but four other judges dismissed the appeal for lacking in merit.

But Ondo State PDP in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kennedy Peretei, said the delay in releasing the judgment was a ploy to deny its candidate justice at the Supreme Court.

He revealed that the party’s application to the Office of the Registrars, Court of Appeal, to get Certified True Copies of the judgment has been met with bulk passing between officials of the court in Ado-Ekiti and Akure.

He urged the registrars of the court to discharge their duties timeously as required by law to ensure that the course of justice was not perverted.

According to the statement, “In view of the fact that the Supreme Court has only 60 days from the date of the judgment of the Court of Appeal, to dispose of this matter, any attempt to play games or to apply delay tactics will amount to nothing but sabotage and a calculated attempt to subvert the course of justice.”
