The village head of Dogon Daji in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Mr Anja Mallam has been killed by bandits.

The traditional ruler was shot dead on Sunday when armed bandits attacked his village, Naija News understands.

The attack and killing have been confirmed by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, who disclosed in a statement about the incident that the village head was shot at close range.

He added that investigation into the incident has started and the killers will be brought to justice.

Aruwan said: “Security agencies have reported that armed bandits shot and killed one Anja Mallam, the village head of Dogon Daji, Sanga local government area.

“According to the report, the bandits raided the residence of the village head and shot him at close range, resulting in his instant death.

“Governor El-Rufai expressed sadness at the report, and prayed for the repose of the soul of the village head. The Governor sent condolences to the family of the deceased, and the entire community of Dogon Daji over the shocking and brutal killing.

“Investigations into the incident are ongoing.”

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army has confirmed the rescue of more students of the Federal Government College, Yauri, Kebbi State who were kidnapped by bandits on Thursday.

Naija News reports one teacher and three students have been freshly rescued by the military from the custody of the bandits.

This development was confirmed to Naija News in a statement on Sunday by the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu.

The statement noted that one teacher and three students were rescued by the military on Saturday while one of the bandits was killed and some items including motorcycles and handsets were recovered.
